A fighter from the guys who did
"Tobal No. 1" and "Final
Fantasy".
Graphics: 10/10
Even for a PSX game, the graphics rock!
Every screen is fully textured, hi-res,
with hi polygon counts. And it all runs
at 60 frames per second!!
Gameplay: 9/10
Even though it's just an average fighter,
IT ROCKS! One half of the game is the
standard fighting game, with plenty of
secrets to open. Another part of the game
is the Quest Mode, which is sort of a mix
between Final Fantasy and the old PC game
Rogue. In the quest mode you explore
dungeons, collect rare and interesting
items, and eat a well-balenced diet. The
last part is a bunch of mini-games
featuring the characters you currently
have in the fighter mode. The minigames
aren't exactly ORIGINAL, but they pulled
out a lot of time on my part. :)
Audio: 9/10
The audio portion of the game was done by
Nobuo Uematsu, best known for his work on
the music in the FF games. He directed
the voices (which, even though they're in
Japanese, they rock), he did the sounds
AND remixed some music from FFVII. The
sounds are high quality, and the only
thing that could have been better is if
it supported surround sound. Oh well...

Rating
Overall:
9.9/10 (my closest score to perfect
ever!)
Ehrgeiz is worth a try. If you like
fighters, chances are you have this game
already. If you like fighters and you
don't have this game, you're a weirdo. If
you don't like fighters, rent the game
first and see if you like it.
